"In the Old covenant, it was all about "what you did". If you did good, you got blessed. If you did bad, you got cursed." (see tweet at left)
"WHAT YOU DID"
"I found ways to get around the rules. I smoked marijuana almost daily and abused alcohol every chance I got.
"IF YOU DID BAD, YOU GOT CURSED"
I got suspended a couple times and finally quit halfway through my junior year. (I say I "quit" actually I declared that I quit when they called me in to kick me out". (Clay Peck, My Journey out of Legalism, http://www.formeradventist.com/stories/claypeck.html)(see also Hebrews 8:8,9, and tweet at left)
THEY RAIDED HIS LAB
"I had some close calls with drugs, the occult, automobile accidents and the police." (Clay Peck, My Journey out of Legalism, http://www.formeradventist.com/stories/claypeck.html)(see raid photo at right)
TRANSITION TO GRACE
After way too much harassment from the police and his dealer, Pastor Clay began to think that there must be a better way to live: Why not do away with the law entirely?
There were plenty of other people with backgrounds similar to his. (see tweet at left) Why not tell them that the law was done away with, and now it was "anything goes"?
Sure there were other churches out there, but Clay told people they were all wrong: "False teachers were bringing confusion teaching a Christ-plus-something gospel." "They needed Christ plus the law." (Pastor Clay Peck, Transitioning to the New Covenant, http://claypeck.com/articles/transitioning-to-the-new-covenant-clay-peck/)
BUT IT WASN'T THE FBI THAT BUSTED THIS NOVEL "CHURCH"
Pastor Clay wanted a church with "only Christ", and no law. http://graceplace.org/media/sermons/?sermon_id=225
THE LCSO TOOK A CAREFUL LOOK AT CLAY'S OPERATION
Or, as Clay puts it, "some false brothers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves." (Pastor Clay Peck, Transitioning to the New Covenant, http://claypeck.com/articles/transitioning-to-the-new-covenant-clay-peck/ (see tweet at right)
AND TOSSED THE YOUTH PASTOR IN THE POKEY
"On Dec. 8, Loveland Police arrested Michael "Brett" Wilson, 49, on suspicion of
sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in February 2002 when he was performing councilor duties at the church.
Wilson once served as a worship leader at Grace Place Church.
He also was involved with the church's music program, said Kevin Maul, an investigator with the Larimer County Sherriff's Department." (Church denies covering up alleged sex assault, 9News, 13 Jan 2010, http://www.9news.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=130685)(see tweet at left)
THIS VERY DISAGREEABLE DEVELOPMENT HIT TITHE REVENUES
How could it be that "If God is for us", the LCSO was aganst Grace Place??? (see tweet at right)
So Clay cooked up some more Old Covenant theology:
"REACHING WIDE" TO EXPLAIN AWAY THIS MESSY SITUATION
"If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered,
CLAY PECK'S OLD COVENANT ALTERNATIVE TO INCARCERATION
he shall pay the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives." (Clay Peck, God is Good (A Case Study on Women in the Bible), http://claypeck.com/articles/god-is-good-a-case-study-on-women-in-the-bible/)(see tweet at left)
And if they get into that "deep teaching", just call 9-1-1.
